Lameness evaluation and X-rays:

We provide a full lameness work up to localize the lames. Things we do to help figure the lameness out:

  • trot out on hard and soft ground on the straight line and on a circle
  • flexion           
  • nerve blocks
  • hoof testers
  • x-rays

Pre-purchase exams:

We provide a full pre-purchase which includes:

  • a full physical exam
  • An ophthalmic exam
  • complete lameness work up with flexions of all the joints
  • X-rays- as many as required

Joint Health:

At Bluffton Vet Services your horse’s joint health is very important to us. We have developed many protocols for injecting the joints of your horses; for both the maintenance of hard working horses as well as performing injections to help increase the longevity of arthritic joints. We also have a variety of systemically injectable joint supplements that can be given once a month such as Legend, ICHON, and glucosamine injections to help increase the health of your horse’s joints.


Dr. Jasmine Duff has Extensive experience in equine reproduction and neonatal care.  From the evaluation and collection of stallions, preparing and shipping cooled semen, to ordering cooled semen and artificially inseminating mares, to foaling out and dealing with any and all issues related to your mare or foal. The services we provide include:

  • mare breeding services

  • twin reduction (we have to see your mare within 14-16 days post breeding)

At Bluffton Vet services your horse’s dental health is very important to us. We recommend that horses 3 and up have their teeth checked regularly. We use an electric float and have many year of experience with providing dental care. The services we provide include:

  • Full dental exam
  • wolf tooth extraction
  • Extensive float to remove sharp edges and maintain proper alignment of the teeth
  • x-rays and extraction of abscessed or broken teeth


We provide a number of surgeries which we can perform either on farm or at the clinic in our outdoor surgical suite. Common surgeries include:

  • castrations both normal and cryptorchid
  • umbilical hernia repair
  • removal of various skin nodules or masses
  • eye enucleations

Export services:

Both of our large animal vets are accredited to pull blood and perform export exams to export or import horses.

Emergency Care:

We provide a 24 hour large animal emergency service. If you have an equine emergency call the main clinic phone number and you will be forwarded to the on call clinicians cell phone, leave a message and you will be called back within a few minutes. 

Vaccination and Deworming Protocol:

Every horse is different and will require different vaccines. Show horses gone every weekend in the summer will require a different protocol than a horse that remains in the pasture or around the homestead. The age of your equine can also affect the vaccine and deworming schedule. Please contact the clinic so we can get you and your horse on the right vaccine and deworming protocol. (403) 843-8463.

  • Pneumabort - Equine Rhinopneumonitis 


For full protection any horse recieving a vaccine for the first time will require a booster in 3-4 weeks.
Horses that have not had symptoms of strangles in the last 4 years can be vaccinated.
Do not use Quest to deworm horses for the first time if they have an unknown deworming history.
